The Great Gatsby is a modernized story about two former lovers who found their way back to each other after several years of being apart and out of contact. After time has passed, things have changed for the both of them. Their lives have taken off in unexpected directions. Which is why their meeting is so astounding. This story is a primary example that goes to show for readers that true love never dies. Even though there may be obstacles along the way, if their love is true, the two will always overcome it. It’s as if nothing can go wrong. After all, Richard Bach said “If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.” But this is not always the case. Sometimes we don’t get our happy endings and that is what this book is all about. However, F. Scott Fitzgerald does not fail to express that when you really do love someone, you will go to extreme measures to protect them… until the very day you die.

I would rate this book five out of five stars and recommend it to anyone who likes a story of romance and suspense. Fitzgerald did a beautiful job capturing the reality of true love but spun it in such a tragic way that will leave readers devastated that not everyone lives happily ever after.
